Suburb Guide - Strathfield The suburb of Strathfield was once known as Redmire (later Redmyre). The name of the suburb changed in 1885 when it became part of the newly established Strathfield Municipal Council. The boundaries of the suburb have expanded over time and now include parts of the former Druitt Town and South Strathfield. Land Grants Directories Sands Sydney and Suburban Directory - Redmyre and Homebush 1882 - This is the first separate directory entry for Redmyre [later Strathfield] and Homebush. Sands Sydney and Suburban Directory - Redmyre 1883 - This entry does not include addresses in Homebush. Sands Sydney and Suburban Directory - Redmyre 1884 Sands Sydney and Suburban Directory - Strathfield 1885 Sands Sydney and Suburban Directory - Strathfield 1886. The 1886 entry is under the new name of Strathfield, after the district was incorporated as the Municipality of Strathfield. The 1886 entry combines the areas of Homebush and Redmyre into the district of Strathfield. Sands Sydney Directory 1887 'Strathfield including Homebush & Redmyre & Part of Druitt Town'
