The Railway Station Estate Subdivision Poster advertises auction in 1903 of lots of land at Churchill Avenue and Albert Road. Note that "The Avenue" is now known as Churchill Avenue and Clarendon Street is now "Albert Road". The Town Centre was altered in the 1920s when land was reclaimed to extend Strathfield Railway Station. Until the redevelopment of the Square in 1988, Strathfield Square consisted of a triangular shaped grass area surrounded by three roads: Albert Road, The Boulevarde and Churchill Avenue. Strathfield Square faces Strathfield Station at north with small strip shopping areas at east, west and south. Strathfield Square's redevelopment was partly funded as a Bicentennary Project in 1988. The redevelopment involved building a open space plaza area with limited traffic access. “Keary’s Corner”, corner The Boulevarde and Redmyre Road Strathfield. Keary’s Corner was built in the 1890’s but established by Sid Keary in 1912 as a fruit shop. It is best remembered as traditional style lolly shop until its closure in 1991, after the death of its proprietor Vic Keary, son of Sid. The Powerhouse Musuem acquired many of the stores interiors at auction, which has formed part of displays on 20th century shopping in NSW.
