History & Biographical Register of Strathfield Council Aldermen ProjectStrathfield District Historical Society has been compiling a historical reference guide on the service history of Aldermen/Councillors on Strathfield Municipal Council since the incorporation of the Council in 1885. The title Aldermen was changed to Councillor in the Local Government Act 1993, but the majority who served on Council used the title Aldermen, hence the name of the project. A complete history has never been compiled, though some oral histories of Mayors have been recorded by Yvonne Gibbons in 1993 and more recently by Strathfield Library. It is the Society’s intention to publish information gathered by this project into a book and/or CD-Rom. Strathfield Council is an amalgamated Council incorporating the former Homebush Council [1947] and west ward of Enfield Council [1949]. Therefore, information on Aldermen who served on these Councils would also be appreciated in gathering information for this project. Participation in this project is voluntary and answers to any question on the survey form are optional. If require additional space, please add more pages. We acknowledge that some Aldermen included in this project may be deceased or unable to complete these forms and would welcome any information by a family member or friend. Please complete the questions which applies to your circumstances. Requests for information on former Aldermen/Mayors/Councillors are frequently received from heritage and family researchers, therefore information on previous residences and family information is useful for general historic record, hence questions relating to personal details have been included in this survey.
