| About the Strathfield District Historical Society The Strathfield District Historical Society was established in 1978 to research and preserve documents and records relating to the history of the Strathfield District. The Society’s research is usually published in the monthly newsletter and in occasional journals and periodicals. The Strathfield District Historical Society Newsletter is published on a bi-monthly basis and is distributed to members of the Society. The Newsletter usually contains research relevant to the history of Strathfield. Recent topics of newsletters include:
Some examples of the Society’s research are published on this site such as Histories, Newsletters and Parks. Further research is available by contacting the Society. The Society's collection is housed in the Local Studies Room of Strathfield Library, 65-67 Rochester Street, Homebush. Access to collections must be organised through the Society's Secretary or President. The Society provides assistance to the local community and participates in historical and heritage activities in Strathfield. The Strathfield District Historical Society is affiliated with the Royal Australian Historical Society and the Patron of the Society is the Mayor of Strathfield. Meetings The Strathfield District Historical Society will meet on a bi-annual basis at Strathfield Library, cnr Abbotsford Rd and Rochester St, Homebush commencing at 1pm. Each month a guest speaker is invited to address the meeting on a variety of interesting historical topics. The C S Malcolm Memorial Lecture is held on the first Saturday of September each year.
