About the Strathfield District Historical Society

The Strathfield District Historical Society was established in 1978 to research and preserve documents and records relating to the history of the Strathfield District.

The Society’s research is usually published in the monthly newsletter and in occasional journals and periodicals.

The Strathfield District Historical Society Newsletter is published on a bi-monthly basis and is distributed to members of the Society.  The Newsletter usually contains research relevant to the history of Strathfield.  Recent topics of newsletters include:

  • Research of prominent Strathfield past residents including some of Australia’s greatest merchant families – Arnott’s, David Jones and Grace Brothers.

Some examples of the Society’s research are published on this site such as Histories, Newsletters and Parks.  Further research is available by contacting the Society.

The Society's collection is housed in the Local Studies Room of Strathfield Library, 65-67 Rochester Street, Homebush.  Access to collections must be organised through the Society's Secretary or President.
